Chapelle Saint Pancrace

This chapel, far from the village, in the middle of a field, would appear to date back to the end of the 10th century, early 11th century.

In 1683, the bishop went to the high Vernet parish, which is far from the village and of which the church is dedicated to Saint Pancras. Inside, you will find an altar and a painting representing Virgin Mary, Saint Pancras and Saint Martin.

Unfortunately, it was ruined during civil wars. Inhabitants asked for the parish services to be transferred to another chapel they had had made at their own cost and expense, near the village : St Martin’s chapel. This chapel would then become the high Verntet parish church.

However, St Pancrace’ chapel still serves on the saint’s day. Even ruined, the chapel subsisted through the years and was finally restored in 1985.
