The chapel of Saint-Jean and its belvedere are part of the key places of the middle Durance area.
The chapel of Saint-Jean was built in 1668 by 4 brothers of the Ricard family. It has become a high place of pilgrimage since its creation. It is told that in 1753, a seven year old child was healed of an incurable illness the day of Saint John the Baptist celebration. Bernard Venet, sculptor, now known in the entire world and native to the region has made steel plates furniture specially for this place : altar, bench, cross, stained glass.
To get there, two walkable trails : one departing from the blâchon cemetery in Château-Arnoux and the other one from the Saint-Jean reservoirs trail. It is possible to do a loop.
You can also go there by car, on the Saint-Jean touristic road going up just before the Camille Reymond middle school in Château-Arnoux.
